Did ‘Anonymous’ hackers take over Neo-Nazi website Daily Stormer?

The international network said in a post on neo-Nazi website it had taken over site in name of civil rights activist killed in Charlottesville

Yesterday a new post on the Neo-Nazi website homepage said: “End of hate: Anonymous now in control of Daily Stormer.”

The note came after an article published on the site criticized Heather Heyer, who was killed during violence at a white supremacist march in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Saturday.

The poster also said that the website would be shut down within 24 hours.

In responding to the article denigrating Heyer, GoDaddy reacts immediately and on Sunday said it had given the Daily Stormer 24 hours to move its domain to another provider.

Anonymous –linked Twitter, Your Anon News, said on Monday that it did not think the hack had perpetrated by an established member of the group.

“We have no confirmation that ‘Anonymous’ is involved yet,” it wrote on Twitter and added

“Looks more like a [Daily Stormer] stunt,” the Your Anon News account said. “Wonder if they are having issues finding a new host.”
