Yes and No.
The most decorated Olympian of all time Michael Phelps raced against a simulated Great White shark in a kick off Discovery Channel television program’s Shark Week.
The Phelps vs. Shark: Great Gold vs. Great White showed the 32-year-old Phelps faces his fastest opponent in the water on computer simulation.

The 23-time Olympic gold medalist was beaten by two seconds in the open-water 100-meter race. The race was filmed off Mossel Bay, South Africa, and televised on Sunday night.
The computer-simulated shark clocked in at 36.1 seconds and Phelps swam the distance in 38.1 seconds.
Although it was unrealistic to expect the American swimmer to actually race and beat a great white shark, Gary Parrish of CBS Sports complained to the buildup and lack of an actual one-on-one race instead of a computer simulation. He was not the only one who shared his disappointment on Twitter.
