Bonnie, the mother of Uber CEO Travis Kalanick died in a boat accident Friday evening in Fresno County, California on Saturday.
The parents of the ride-hailing company founder Bonnie Kalanick, 71, and her husband Donald Kalanick, 78, were sailing in Pine Flat Lake in the eastern part of the county when their boat struck a rock and sank, Sheriff’s Office said, adding that an autopsy planned for Sunday.

The father Donald Kalanick rushed to the hospital for what described as moderate injuries.
A statement from Uber read: “Last night, Travis and his family suffered an unspeakable tragedy. His mother passed away in a devastating boating accident near Fresno, and his father is in serious condition. Our thoughts and prayers are with Travis and his family in this heartbreaking time,” the statement said.
Travis Kalanick, 40, founded Uber in 2009. The company with a market value of $70 billion has an international operation.
