Sarah Michelle Gellar got George Michael confused with Boy George. Maybe she can be forgiven for the mistake since everyone was in such a shock after hearing about George Michael’s sudden and unexpected death. He was on;y 53 years old.
The former Buffy The Vampire Slayer tweeted the following after first hearing the bad news: “Do you really want to hurt me? I guess you do 2016.” This was a reference to all the celebrity deaths this past year and all of the other bad news. Unfortunately, Gellar referenced the break out hit song of singer Boy Geroge’s which came out two years before George Michael had his debut with Wham.

Well Sarah Michelle Gellar has since deleted that tweet. She has posted the following to apologize for it:
Just as sad when you get the correct information- #ripGeorgeMichael thank you to everyone who corrected me- it's still so sad

And for the record yes I completely know the difference between Boy George and George Michael- I heard incorrectly. My intentions were good

This is usually why I don't comment on public matters, but it all seemed so sad on Christmas. Lesson learned.
