Nicole Kidman is learning Yiddish. Yes that Nicole Kidman! Well sort of anyway.
Celebrity columnist Cindy Adams wrote about how she spoke with the Oscar winning actress in Yiddish in a story for Page Six.

Well actually Adams used a few words in Yiddish and Nicole Kidman did not understand any of them. Not even shmatta. Kidman asked in response, “what’s smotter?” Every times Adams used a Yiddish word Kidman had not seemed to have ever heard it before.
Cindy Adams told Nicole Kidman that having spent so much time in New York she should know more Yiddish.

So Adams took it upon herself to teach Kidman a few words. No word yet on how soon Nicole Kidman will be able to read Shalom Alechem stories in the original Yiddish.
