Israeli start-up guru Yossi Vardi‘s latest annual shindig, the Digital Life Design (DLD) innovation conference, is taking place in Tel Aviv from September 24th to the 29th. It has become one of the most intriguing hi-tech conferences in the world, bringing together many of the finest minds, companies, international entrepreneurs and investors from all 0ver the world in one place. For five days they will discuss technology matters, business, funding issues and provide a venue for entrepreneurs and investors to meet, impress people and make some hot new deals.

The innovation festival will include more than 100 technology events in the city this year, the municipality of Tel Aviv says in a statement. As part of  it the municipality is planning to transform the old business district of the city on September 27th, and one of its now fashionable urban nebourhoods, Rothschild Boulevard,  into a showcase of interactive and virtual reality displays: robots, talking trees and video and street art that will be open and free to the public.

Emphasizing the Life and Design aspects of DLD there will be plenty of art, games and musical projects that combine technology on display, as well as way-out life enhancing digital technologies – including three dimensional textiles and even knitware that increases body heat when rubbed.

One of the ongoing participants in the conference is the Israel Innovation Authority (formerly Office of the Chief Scientist).

On September 28th, between 14:00 and 18:00, the Innovation Authority will set up a pavilion to consult early and later stage companies on support and grants, opportunities for R&D cooperation with countries in North and Latin America, East Asia, Europe, and more.

This is an excellent opportunity for members of the hi-tech ecosystem to meet Innovation Authority staff face-to-face and get updates and information.

Chairman of the Israel Innovation Authority, Avi Hasson said: “The Israeli Innovation Authority operates support mechanisms intended to strengthen Israeli technological innovation, which is a national resource.

“The conference is a wonderful opportunity for entrepreneurs and Israeli tech companies to learn about the Innovation Authority’s support programs and for companies in various stages to receive consultation. In addition, the Innovation Authority is eager to supply information on R&D cooperation with companies from around the world, support for traditional and combined industries, support for the development of technological solutions in the field of global healthcare, and more.”

Representatives of different arenas within the Innovation Authority will participate:

A.   Early Stage – this arena supplies unique tools to support tech companies in their early stages. At the conference, authority staff will present the tools intended to help startups – from those with a single entrepreneur to seed-stage companies – with the goal of developing the company’s initial idea or product to advanced recruiting and sales.

B.   Growth – this arena operates a wide variety of programs to advance technological innovation in mature companies. This contributes to preserving competitiveness and technological leadership and increasing growth potential.

C.   International Collaboration – allowing Israeli technology companies and entrepreneurs to better integrate into the global arena and to forge cooperative endeavors with public and private companies and multinationals from America, Asia and Europe.
