Water silver bowl belonging to late Joan Rivers’ Yorkie dog, Spike, was expected to be sold for $800 at Christie’s auction from the comedian’s penthouse. Suprisingly, the engraved Tiffany & Co. netted $14, 000. Happily, the profits from the auction are headed to Rivers’ heirs and two organizations: NYC-based charity God’s Love We Deliver, provider of nutritious, individually-tailored meals to people who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves, as well as Guide Dogs for the Blind. This passionate community prepare highly qualified guide dogs to serve and empower individuals who are blind or have low vision. All of their services are provided free of charge.
The auction raised a total of $2.2 million, with a 1898 Fabergé frame slotting in as the highest grossing item at $245, 000.
