Israel has called on its citizenson Monday urging its citizens to leave Turkey “as soon as possible.”  The Israeli government’s Counter Terrorism Bureau has raised its travel warning from Level 2 (basic concrete threat) to Level 3 (high threat).

The Counter Terrorism Bureau said, “Following an assessment of the existing situation, it seems that the threat of more attacks by terrorist organizations has risen, especially from ISIS, on tourist targets including Israeli tourists. Accordingly, the Counter Terrorism Bureau is raising the travel warning to Turkey to a high concrete threat (Level 3) and recommends abstaining from visits.”

The travel warning comes days after the Turkish government issued an alert for attacks against Jewish and Christian targets in the country.

“The deadly attack in central Istanbul, in which a group of Israeli tourists was hurt, once again demonstrates the high threat in Turkey posed by ISIS elements to tourist sites and shows a high capability to carry out more attacks, ” said the statement.

It is also added that the threat exists “throughout Turkey. We recommend avoiding visiting Turkey,  and to those in the country to leave as soon as possible.”
