In an interview with Israel Radio on Monday morning Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon pledged that “no underground tunnels from the Gaza Strip have so far been located in Israeli territory, ” despite recent complaints by residents in southern Israeli communities near the Gaza border of hearing construction noises under their homes.
Ya’alon said that “security forces were checking every report by residents in the Gaza periphery.”

Israel Radio also quoted Ya’alon response to opposition leader Isaac Herzog’s (Zionist Union) call for action. Herzog said government inaction on continued reconstruction of the Palestinian tunnel network destroyed by Israel during Operation Protective Edge in 2014.
According to Israel Radio Ya’alon said: “It’s also possible to strike the hundred thousand rockets that Hezbollah has or Iran’s hundreds of missiles, however judgement and responsibility must be exercised.”
