The London EDITION – Boutique luxury hotel from Ian Schrager and Marriott

The London EDITION - Boutique luxury hotel from Ian Schrager and Marriott (2)

With an extremely cool concept totally created by Ian Schrager and Marriott as part of their EDITION brand, The London EDITION is much more than a boutique hotel. The Fitzrovia address, a few steps from Oxford Street shopping and bordering Soho, provides a convenient home base from which to explore London.

We stayed in one of the property’s Loft rooms, offering a small sitting area and adding some extra space to the standard room size. In the hotel’s 173 rooms and suites, design is comfortable contemporary, with oak floors and either light or dark walnut wood paneling. Furnishings (including George Smith tufted armchairs) are also quite stylish with great touches like art books, a fur throw on the bed and original photographic artwork by Hendrik Kerstens (whose work is featured throughout the property).

The bathroom (with Le Labo amenities) was large and very luxurious, though a heating source in the bathroom itself would have been appreciated on those cold January nights and mornings. The spacious bathroom had a huge, stylish rectangular sink, and an amazing rainforest shower, along with a separate, large soaking tub. The design and style was sleek and beautiful but did lack some shelves or something to put or hang things on. Other amenities included complimentary high-speed WiFi and daily bottled water, twice-daily maid service and a huge 46″ flatscreen HDTV.
