A senior security official have estimated that an Islamic State (ISIS) attack inside Israel is a matter of time, as the number of Israeli Arab citizens who support the terrorist group grows.

The Islamic State recently published a series of videos in Hebrew threatening Israel with attacks, in which it vowed that “not a single Jew will be left in the country.” Some were attributed to the events at al-Aqsa mosque. Some of the films sought to encourage terrorists to carry out attacks.

Unlike terror groups such Hamas or Hezbollah that have targeted Israel over the years ISIS lack a central organizational structure, making an Israeli response to an attack significantly more difficult, the source said.

The senior sources were cited by Yedioth Ahronoth on Monday estimating that as pressure builds on ISIS in Syria from Russian and US-coalition airstrikes, the group will increase its attacks outside of the war-torn state. Backing up the estimation the sources pointed to recent international attacks, including the Russian airliner downed in Sinai, the Paris attacks, and the California shooting last week.

The Shin Bet security service believes that more than 40 Palestinian and Israeli Arab volunteer recruits have joined IS in the past two years.
