A powerful earthquake has hit the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, according to monitoring stations.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake measured 7.7 and was located close to the border with Pakistan.
USGS sited the earthquake as being 42 miles west-northwest of Chitral, Pakistan. Chitral is located around 100 miles north of the city of Peshawar.
