Leah Remini Reveals How Powerful Tom Cruise Is In Scientology

Sitcom star Leah Remini quit practicing Scientology in 2013,  after practicing Scientologist for more than 30 years. In a new memoir, “bold, brash, and bravely confessional” she admits the religion made her lose touch with the real world. The book arriving in bookstores next week.

Remini spoke to ABC 20/20 Dan Harris for an exclusive interview about her alleged experiences within the secretive Church.

The King of Queens actress told Dan Harris, “The mindset becomes ‘Us against them. . . . The decision to leave is you are giving up everything you have ever known and everything you have worked for your whole life.”

“The decision to leave is you are giving up everything you have ever known and everything you have worked for your whole life, ” Remini added. “As time goes on, you start to lose touch with the real world.”

She also revealed how powerful Tom Cruise is in the church. “The mindset becomes us against them. Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself – you are evil, ” she told her host.
