Saudi King Receives Jewish People’s Condolences Following Disaster in Mecca

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman

 

A major Jewish organization publicly expressed condolences on Thursday to the king of Saudi Arabia to express their condolences following the mass loss of life during last week’s tragic stampede stampede that killed nearly 800 haj pilgrims in Mecca last week.

The letter, whose addressed, King Salman, was referred to as “the custodian of the two holy mosques, ” was signed by World Jewish Congress President Ronald Lauder and the organization’s chief executive officer, Robert Singer,  who represent 100 Jewish communities from around the world.

In their letter, the two WJC leaders expressed hope that Saudi Arabia “and all of Islam find strength in the memory of those whose lives were cut short, and may we, together, dedicate ourselves to bringing harmony into our world so that we – Muslims, Jews and Christians – may together worship our common God with love and in peace.”
