The Castlegar Sourcereports that Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette was reported missing after 3:30 a.m., Monday morning. This appears to be a case of stranger abduction, and the details in this developing case make up the worst nightmares of parents everywhere.
Authorities in Crowsnest Past issued the AMBER Alert as soon as the child was reported missing. The alert has spanned across the entire province of Saskatchewan, as numerous people frantically search for the child and the suspect accused of taking her.
Van City Buzz reports that the suspect appears to be unknown to the child and her family, and may be driving a white van. The van is described as being a newer model with a large back antenna and a flag on display — though the specifics of the flag have not been clarified in the media.

CTV News reports that the AMBER Alert has been expanded throughout British Columbia as authorities search tirelessly for the girl and her alleged suspect. However, it should be noted that no media reports have clarified on the finer details of the child’s abduction. It’s not known if the girl was sleeping when the man abducted her, or if she was even indoors. Furthermore, there are no clarifications on how a witness account of the suspect came to be.
Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette is described as a white female, 2-years-old. She is of small build with long brown hair and brown eyes. No reports clarify on what she was last seen wearing.
The Calgary Sun reports that the missing child’s father was found deceased in the home from where she was snatched. He was reportedly stabbed to death. So not only is the suspect in this case accused of kidnapping a 2-year-old child, he may very well be a murder suspect as well. The missing tot’s father — Terry Blanchette — is described as someone who isn’t “very well liked” in his community. He reportedly has a long rap sheet with a history of run-ins with the law. However, a motive is not known at this time for his stabbing and the kidnapping of his daughter.
