WATCH: Jimmy Kimmel Fights Back Tears Over Cecil The Lion’s Death

Cecil was one of Africa’s best known lions. He was found skinned and headless on the outskirts of the park.  Traces of his last movements show when he was tricked into leaving the park and shot with a bow and arrow. After they hit him, the hunters tracked the dying lion for 40 hours before they killed it with a rifle.

Cecil’s agonizing death has caused outrage all across the Internet. On ABC Tuesday, Jimmy Kimmel took some time to publicly shame the Minnesota dentist responsible with a scathing monologue:

“Let’s say we accept at face value that he thought it was legal and properly handled and didn’t know the lion had a tracking collar, was a local favorite — the big question is why are you shooting a lion in the first place? I mean, I’m honestly curious to know why a human being would feel compelled to do that. How is that fun? Is it that difficult for you to get an erection that you need to kill things?”

Kimmel showed the guy’s picture and even identified him by name before eventually breaking down and fighting back tears.
