Businessman wins £110, 000 libel damages at High Court over hitman slur on Russian blog

A wealthy Russian businessman has won £110, 000 in libel damages at the High Court over claims made on a blog that he took out a contract to kill the husband of a campaigner.

Former senator Vladimir Sloutsker, once one of Moscow’s most colourful political figures, sued celebrity journalist Olga Romanova in London.

Mr Justice Warby ruled that he should hear the claim because Mr Sloutsker “had, and has, a substantial and widespread reputation in this jurisdiction”…
