Actor Omar Sharif dies at 83; starred in ‘Lawrence of Arabia, ‘ ‘Doctor Zhivago’

Omar Sharif, who won acclaim in such films as “Lawrence of Arabia” and “Doctor Zhivago, ” died Friday, his agent said. He was 83.

Steve Kenis, the actor’s longtime agent, said Sharif died of a heart attack in a Cairo hospital. Sharif had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
