Trump’s presidential campaign might be moving forward, but the same cannot be said of his television career. The real estate mogul has been dumped by NBCUniversal because of some very hostile comments that Mr. Trump made about Latin American immigrants on the day that he declared his candidacy.
The billionaire — known most recently for his reality competition on NBC called “The Apprentice” — said that Latin immigrants to the U.S. are drug addicts and criminals, when he declared his candidacy for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in 2016 two weeks ago.

Trump said, “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people who have lots of problems. They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people.”
This has led to a backlash. Univision has dropped its coverage of Trump sponsored events, which led to the threat of a lawsuit from Mr. Trump. Now NBC has announced that The Miss USA pageant, scheduled for July 12, will no longer air on the network and neither will the Miss Universe pageant, scheduled for next January. The two events are owned by Donald Trump.
“At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values, ” the company said in a statement on Monday. “Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump.”
After threatening to sue NBC too, Trump issued a statement which read, “As of today, Donald J. Trump is no longer affiliated with NBC. Mr. Trump stands by his statements on illegal immigration, which are accurate. NBC is weak, and like everybody else is trying to be politically correct— that is why our country is in serious trouble.
“We must have strong borders and not let illegal immigrants enter the United States. As has been stated continuously in the press, people are pouring across our borders unabated. Public reports routinely state great amounts of crime are being committed by illegal immigrants. This must be stopped and it must be stopped now. Long ago I told NBC that I would not being doing The Apprentice because I am running for President in order to Make our Country Great Again.
“If NBC is so weak and so foolish to not understand the serious illegal immigration problem in the United States, coupled with the horrendous and unfair trade deals we are making with Mexico, then their contract violating closure of Miss Universe/Miss USA will be determined in court.”
