Eddie Van Halen has publicly called on his band’s former lead singer David Lee Roth to begin acting like the 60 year old man that he actually is. The iconic rock star made the comments in an interview it Billboard.
Van Halen said of his former and once again lead singer who will be joining the guitarist on a 40 city tour this year, “He does not want to be my friend. How can I put this: Roth’s perception of himself is different than who he is in reality. We’re not in our 20s anymore. We’re in our 60s. Act like you’re 60. I stopped coloring my hair, because I know I’m not going to be young again.”

Van Halen pointed to the fact that he himself no longer dies his hair, while Roth still does. But so what? What about that expression that you are only as old as you feel? Could Eddie Van Halen just be jealous of Roth’s ability to maintain a more youthful outlook?
We saw pics of Roth without a shirt on and he certainly could still pass for 30 years younger.
There has been bad blood between the two rockers since Roth famously walked out on Van Halen almost 30 years ago, after a decade of huge successes. And Van Halen also feels that he and Roth are on different pages musically. The rocker also told Billboard, “It’s hard, because there are four people in this band, and three of us like rock’n’roll. And one of us likes dance music. And that used to kind of work, but now Dave doesn’t want to come to the table.”
So one wonders why Van Halen even agreed to tour again with Roth. Maybe it is because he needed his old singer to attract the crowds? And if so, maybe he is just bitter about it?
