Ray Kurzweil, not only predicts the future, he makes it happen. Described by Forbes, Inc. as “the ultimate thinking machine” and “the rightful heir to Thomas Edison”, Kurzweil’s prediction have held up astounding well over the years. As Director of Engineering at Google, he predicts that human brains will be “in the cloud”, where there will be thousands of computers engorging our mental abilities and making man super-intelligent. How will this be done? Robots, of course. Nanobots, tiny robots made from DNA strands.
“Our thinking will be a combination of biological and non-biological thinking, ” Kurzweil says. “We’re going to gradually enhance ourselves, ” he believes, because “that’s the nature of being human – we transcend ourselves.”

How far into the future is all this going to occur? Well, somewhere between 2030 to 2040, give or take a couple of years, our thinking will be predominantly non-biological.
How successful has Ray been in predicting the future? In the ’90s, he offered 147 predictions going into the early 2000s. His predictions included the fact that
· Most books will be read on screens rather than paper.
· Most text will be created using speech recognition technology.
· Personal worn computers provide monitoring of body functions, automated identity and directions for navigation.
· Cables will disappear. Computer peripheries use wireless communication.
· People will talk to their computer to give commands.
· Computer displays will be built into eyeglasses
In 2010, he announced that 86% of his predictions had occurred. Modestly, he gave himself a grad of “B”.
