MasterClass boasts that it offers online classes created for students of all skill levels. It declares that its instructors are “the best in the world.” Well if not the best at giving lectures, then they are certainly the best in their respective professions. Hoffman has two Oscars under his belt and Williams has 19 grand slam tennis championships to her credit.
As if having Hoffman was not enough, his segment was directed by noted director Jay Roach.
Their talent commands a 90$ fee per online lecture series. If you order Dustin Hoffman’s series you will get 24 lessons in which he teaches how to create “memorable characters, hone your craft, and get the part.” It also comes with 10 learning tools including 1 complete movie script, acting exercises, interactive assignments and more.
The website states that Dustin Hoffman, “believes that every great character is already inside you — the hard part is learning to access them. In his first ever online class, the two-time Academy Award winning star of The Graduate, Tootsie, and Rain Man teaches you everything he’s learned during his 50 year acting career.”

David Rogier, MasterClass’ CEO, told USA Today, “We wanted to create our dream school and what would it be. We wanted to take classes from the absolute best, and when we started asking them to be a part of this, they said yes.”
“David (Rogier) told me that Dustin Hoffman was going to do one and I thought, ‘Wow, that’s so cool, ‘” Serena Williams told USA Today Sports. “He’s one of the greatest actors of all time and I just thought that I would love to see what he had to talk about. That really got me interested and thinking about how fun it could be for me to do (a class), too.”
