Jerry Seinfeld was not impressed by Jimmy Kimmel’s decision to honor David Letterman by not airing a new show opposite Letterman’s final episode on May 20th. His wife Jessica posted some beautiful pics of her playing with their kids yesterday for Mother’s Day.
The comedian told Access Hollywood, “No. He [Kimmel] loves Dave so much. We get it. We understand. Why not put up a test pattern if you really want to respect the guy? I think TV Land put up a test pattern on the night of my [show’s] finale out of respect. That was a very nice gesture. That’s what I would do. That’s a real tip of the cap!”

Come on Jerry! Don’t be such a prude! Kimmel is twenty years younger than you and so for him David Letterman is an icon. You, on the other hand, came up as a comic before Letterman’s “Lat Night” first went on the air on NBC. So for you he is a contemporary and not an idol.
And even showing a rerun that night is a pretty big deal, especially since this is sweeps month.
Seinfeld also denied rumors that longtime Letterman band leader Paul Schaffer was once considered for the part of George Costanza on Seinfeld.
And for Mother’s Day Jessica Seinfeld shared a joyful pic of her play fighting with the couple’s three kids Sascha, 14, Shepherd, 9, and Julian, 11. Julian is the one on the ground with Jessica’s foot on her back. The picture was posted on Instagram with the caption, “Happy Mother’s Day. Stay strong today, Tiger Moms.”
Let’s hope that no overzealous children’s rights activists get the wrong idea and decide to go after the Seinfelds.
The comic has also announced plans to perform at The New Jersey Performing Arts Center later this year. He will appear at Prudential Hall on December 4th.
