“I am a resource to SurveyMonkey during this transition, ” said Lurie. “Dave was a strong leader who assembled an extraordinary team that is committed to fully realizing the company’s mission to help people around the world make better decisions with data.”
“GoPro is honored that one of our own can support SurveyMonkey during this difficult time, ” said GoPro President Tony Bates. “We consider this a small opportunity to demonstrate our respect for SurveyMonkey and Dave’s legacy.”
Goldberg and his wife, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, and family were vacationing at the Palmasola at the Four Seasons Resort, a private 9-bedroom beach front villa, which gives guests access to the facilities of the Four Seasons.
According to a family spokesman, Goldberg’s brother Robert found him lying on the floor of the gym at 7 P.M. on Friday. Goldberg had gone to exercise at 4 P.M.
Apparently Goldberg had simply fallen off a treadmill.
The family is planning a private memorial and funeral in California.
Goldberg founded SurveyMonkey in 2004. He also founded Launch Media Inc. in 1994 which was sold to Yahoo in 2001. After that he served as vice president and general manager of Yahoo Music.
Dave Goldberg and Sheryl Sandberg met in 1996 and married in 2004. They had two children together
His brother Robert revealed the news in a Facebook post on Saturday. He wrote:
“It’s with incredible shock and sadness that I’m letting our friends and family know that my amazing brother, Dave Goldberg, beloved husband of Sheryl Sandberg, father of two wonderful children, and son of Paula Goldberg, passed away suddenly last night. In this time of sorrow, we mourn his passing and remember what an amazing husband, father, brother, son and friend he was.”
