An ongoing internal investigation by NBC News has found more instances in which anchor Brian Williams may have embellished or exaggerated his reports, such as during a guest appearance on The Daily Show in 2011, various sources said.
The New York Times said the investigation has expanded into comments Williams made to Jon Stewart in February 2011 regarding the Arab Spring demonstrations in Cairo’s Tahrir Square.

Williams told Stewart that while he was on the ground in the square, he witnessed an incident in which government troops, riding horses and camels, whipped anti-government protesters. He also said that he made eye contact with one of the men on the horses.
However, the New York Times reported that Williams actually reported from a balcony near the square.
The report said the investigation has yet to reach an overall conclusion regarding coverage by Williams.
Williams, the face of the NBC News division, was suspended in February for six months without pay following revelations that he misrepresented events that happened during the war in Iraq in 2003.
