Israel’s latest missile interceptor system, David’s Sling, had successfully completed a series of tests ahead of its final trial.

David’s Sling, the new air defense system being developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. in cooperation with US company Raytheon,  has passed fourth series of tests. The Israeli Defense Ministry puts it on course for possible deployment of next year, the Defense Ministry said today.

David’s Sling is designed to provide an additional layer of defense from short and medium range missiles and rockets with ranges of between 63 miles and 125 miles (100 km and 200 km).

It will thus fill the operational gap between Israel’s Iron Dome short-range rocket interceptor and the Arrow ballistic missile interceptor, both already active.

Representatives from the Homa Administration in the Ministry of Defense Administration for the Development of Weapons and Technological Infrastructure and the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA) participate in the trial.
