Musician and film director Fred Durst, best known as the vocalist for the metal band “Limp Bizkit, ” is also known for his work in independent films. He costarred in “Population 436, ” and directed “The Education of Charlie Banks” and “The Longshots.” Durst is ranked in the Hit Parader Top 100 Heavy Metal Vocalists list.
But this week, Fred Durst is becoming known through the tabloids for whom he isn’t. This is because, a couple of days ago, Fred posted an Instagram photo of himself wearing a hoodie that reads “NOT Robert.”

He added a caption: “I am NOT ROBERT.”
This is because of a recent AP story that read:
NEW ORLEANS (AP) – A Louisiana State Police trooper says millionaire Robert Durst has been booked on weapons charges in that state – on top of a first-degree murder charge lodged by Los Angeles authorities. Trooper Melissa Matey told the Associated Press that an arrest warrant was issued for the former Limp Bizkit frontman and he was rebooked in the Orleans Parish Jail on Monday under two new charges.
This is the second AP story that appears to be full of holes. The other one was the Observer’s expose of the botched up reporting AP had done on the Gaza war last summer (How the AP Botched Its Investigation of Civilian Deaths in the Israel-Hamas War).
The funny tweets followed:
Zain tweeted: FYI Robert Durst arrested. Fred Durst still free to commit crimes against music.
And Brad Dayspring tweeted: On the bright side, Fred Durst’s publicist’s phone rang for the first time in 10+ years.
