Gordon-Levitt said about the project, “The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations, first on ‘Sesame Street, ’ and then on ‘Fraggle Rock. Jim Henson’s characters make you laugh and sing, but they’re also layered, surprising, and wise. From Oscar the Grouch, to Yoda, to the Fraggles. I’ve never stopped loving his work, even as a young frisky man, and on into adulthood.”
“Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved. I’m grateful and excited to be working with New Regency on this project, ” he added.
There is no word yet on who the former “3D Rock From the Sun” star will play in the movie, however, or when production will begin.
The 34 year old actor can next be seen playing famed high-wire artist Philippe Petit when he attempted to cross the Twin Towers in 1974 in the upcoming film “The Walk” from Oscar winning director Robert Zemeckis.
Gordon-Levitt will also play whistle blower Edward Snowden in the upcoming Oliver Stone picture simply titled “Snowden” which is due out at the end of the year on Christmas day.
Five season of the show Fraggle Rock aired on HBO from 1983-1087. It had 96 episodes.
There was also an animated version of the show which aired for one year and had 13 episodes.
