John Mayer has come out and admitted to being a recovering addict. Ego addict that is.
Is there actually such a thing as an ego addict? Doesn’t someone already have to have a he ego before becoming a celebrity, whether a singer or an actor? After all, many people feel that all celebrities are narcissists at least on some level.

In an interview with MSNBC, which was revealed on Friday morning’s Today Show, the 37 year old Mayer, whose father was Jewish, said, “I’m a recovered ego addict, and the only way that I can be sure that I don’t relapse is to admit that I constantly have this ego addiction, every day. So I do the Grammys and I go home because if I stay, I get high again.”
“You’ve already looked through Twitter, everybody goes, ‘It’s great, ‘ and then you’re low again because you can’t stop looking. So, I’m a recovered ego addict.”
So what now? Do we call Dr. Drew Pinsky? Do we add ego addiction up there with sex addiction and sports addiction and plastic surgery addiction?
So maybe someone should just explain to Mr. Mayer that everyone wants to be famous. Everyone would like to be on TV and get to date Jennifer Aniston and Katy Perry like he does.
