Sarah Michelle Gellar is set to join the cast of the second season of “Star Wars: Rebels.”

Known best as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, both of Gellar’s parents were Jews, but she was raised secular. She has not had any hits since Buffy went off the air in 2003. Since then she had two one television series – one drama and one sitcom – both of which only lasted for one season.

The animated television program, which just wrapped its first season, takes place in the years between the end of the three Star Wars prequels and the original trilogy.

The show’s executive producer and supervising director Dave Filoni said, “We’re thrilled to have Sarah Michelle Gellar on board for season two. She is a true ‘Star Wars Rebels’ fan, and her passion undoubtedly comes through in the voice recording sessions.”

The actress tweeted, “That’s right……guess who is starring on season two of @starwarsrebels!!! Move over @RealFPJr cause @SarahMGellar is taking over!!” and “@starwars thanks for all the love. I’m so excited to have the Force with me #maytheforcebewithyou.”

Gellar will be joining a cast that includes her husband Freddie Prinze Jr.
