Chelsea Handler is dishing on her new TV show for Netflix while dissing on her old one at E! The comedian commented on both at the Code Media conference on Wednesday.
Handler compared her new program to 60 Minutes and that she appreciates her new bosses’ attitudes towards her more than her old ones’ saying, “It’s such a different relationship than with E!; it’s nice to be involved in a show where I do respect their opinions. It’s like going out with a guy that you’re proud to be seen with.”

“I’m so much smarter than that show was, and I wanted to be doing a show that was smarter than I was.”
The comedian is also happy to have broken free of the tabloid material that characterized her old show at E!. “I just don’t want to ever have to see that again. I don’t care. I don’t care about that, ” she said.
As to why she eschews traditional television formats Handler said that, “Network TV is so limiting. There are so many parameters.”
On doing her own shows rather than vying to replace someone else at one of the many talk show openings that have become available over the last few years she said, “I didn’t want to go fill in someone else’s shoes, ” said the comedian, who inked the megadeal deal with Netflix in June of last year. “I wanted to create my surroundings.”
About the new show’s content she said, “I would like a healthy mix of everything that goes on around the world, mixed with interesting stuff in our country. The well-roundedness of ’60 Minutes’ but faster, quicker, cooler.”
