Want to Eat like Erin Heatherton? Sakara Will Do the Heavy Lifting

Erin Heatherton

Hollywood stars and Victoria’s Secret models are among those caught up in the latest U.S. health craze, a report said.

Sakara is a new food delivery service that Cosmopolitan reports supermodels like Erin Heatherton and Lily Aldridge, as well as celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow and Lena Dunham, swear by, StyleCaster said.

No, it’s not filled with frozen and tasteless low calorie meals, nor does Sakara expect followers to stick to a liquid-only diet. Instead, this refreshingly healthy supermodel-approved diet focuses on organic, locally-sourced, plant-based, fresh meals that are packed with nutrients, the report said.

A quick scan of the Sakara website will tell you this eating plan has nothing to do with counting calories or cutting out too much of what you love: “We don’t count calories, points, carbs or pounds. We’re not vegetarians, vegans, raw foodies or extremists in any way. We believe in simplicity: local foods, whole ingredients and loving hands, ” it reads, the report said.

Every meal is made from Sakara’s New York-based kitchen, and the service includes three meals every weekday, leaving you up to your own devices (and willpower) on the weekends, StyleCaster said.

“It’s not a diet and there are no rules, just suggestions [i.e., eat three Sakara meals per day on weekdays] to help you eat healthier and have a little more energy. You can’t fall off the wagon because there is no wagon, ” Sakara founders Whitney Tingle and Danielle Duboise (who’s also a nutritionist) told Cosmopolitan.

Although everyone gets the same portions and snacking is discouraged because emotion, boredom, or anxiety tend to fuel the habit more frequently than hunger, the founders say it’s impossible to go hungry if you eat three square Sakara meals per day. “We’re not in the business of starving people, ” they said, according to Cosmopolitan. “Almost everyone says they are surprised by how full they are. Servings are larger than what you see on Instagram — it’s not a little amount of food, and the meals make you feel full because they provide your body with the nutrients it craves.”

Dishes are delivered to clients’ doors every other day in a coveted, eco-friendly Sakara bag, which has become a status symbol on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, the New York Post said.

Everyone from Lena Dunham, whom the paparazzi snapped carrying a Sakara bag to Taylor Swift’s pad in April, to Vogue editors and a host of fashion industry insiders are hooked on Sakara’s gluten-free dishes, the Post said.

As you’d expect, a service like Sakara doesn’t come cheap – depending on where you live, trying Sakara will set you back $99 per day, or $1, 390 outright for a 20-day plan, StyleCaster said.
