Adam Sandler’s made for Netflix movie now has a cast. “Ridiculous 6” will be the first movie that Mr. Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions will make for the online live streaming service.
Perhaps a film made specifically for the Internet and not for release in theaters will be better than any of Mr. Sandler’s recent flops. But do not get your hopes up. Forbes just named Sandler the world’s least productive movie star for the money he gets paid, with his films having the lowest return per dollar that he receives in salary. Did anyone actually sit through “Grownups 2?”

“Ridiculous 6” will begin filming soon. It is the first of a four picture deal that Sandler signed with Netflix last fall. The story is about Sandler, who grew up in an Indian tribe, and his 5 half-brothers.
According to a report in The Wrap, the cast of the movie will include, Nick Swardson, Blake Shelton, Vanilla Ice, Whitney Cummings, Steve Zahn, Danny Trejo, Steve Buscemi, Luke Wilson, Danny Trejo and Lavell Crawford. Other Saturday Night Live alums like Will Forte, Chris Parnell and Jon Lovitz will also be in it. And it will of course also feature Sandler’s former SNL co-star and best bud Rob Schneider who has appeared in just about every one of Adam Sandler’s movies.
Nick Nolte will play Sandler’s long lost father. Lovitz will play his wealthy half-brother. For some reason Vanilla Ice will play Mark Twain.
Netflix has really come a long way since it started out as just a DVD rental service. People probably do not even remember when you would get DVDs sent to you in the mail by Netflix and how the service marked the beginning of the end for Blockbuster.
Netflix has had a slew of award winning original television shows like “House of Cards” and “Orange is the New Black.” Now it is starting to make its own movies.
No director has yet been attached to the project. Maybe they will get Steven Spielberg.
