Nicolas Cage Joins Cast of New Larry Charles Comedy

Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage has signed on to star in a new comedy from the director of Borat, Larry Charles. To be called “Army of One, ” the movie will be about a man who goes on the hunt for Osama Bin Laden. Harvey and Bob Weinstein have already snagged the North American distribution rights for the film.

This is a daring casting move for the producer and writer of hit comedy shows like Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Cage’s career has hit rock bottom in recent years and no one can remember the last time he made a good movie or had a hit. His last film, “Left behind, ” was so bad that some predicted it may have actually ended Cage’s career.

The movie is loosely based on the true story of Gary Faulkner, a construction worker from Colorado, who went to Pakistan and Afghanistan to hunt for Bin laden himself. It was written by Scott Rothman and Rajiv Joseph.

Bob Weinstein said, “For many years I’ve been a fan of Larry Charles, from his work on Seinfeld to Borat and Bruno and, most recently, The Dictator. I’m thrilled to be in business with him and look forward to working with him on this fascinating story.”
