Donny Deutsch is giving talk shows another shot with a new show on the USA Network called simply “Donny!, ” according to the New York Post. His previous effort in 2013 was a CNN talk show called, (Get to) The Point, and it was cancelled after just one week after tremendously low ratings. The show was lampooned by Jon Stewart’s Daily Show.
With his previous attempt at a televised chewing over of current events ending in failure, Deutsch is, according to one review, a “filterless rogue” who dispenses advice he doesn’t follow. The Post’s Claire Atkinson wonders at Deutsche’s “shameless self-promotional abilities, ” and he still manages to get some kind of audience on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and the Today Show, although “The Big Idea, ” with a few viewers, can hardly be called a raging success. Donny Deutsch’s father started an advertising firm, David Deutsch Associates. He handed control over to Donny, who sold it to IPG for $265 million, so Donny’s obsession with new shows doesn’t seem to be financial desperation.

Donny likes to be outrageous, and once showed off his six-pack abs, unsolicited, during an interviewer. One of his admirers said, “Maybe now that his affiliation with the agency formally ends, he can get really naked.”
Or perhaps it is enough that he finally comes up with a decent show.
