Embattled international ride sharing service Uber is trying a new marketing tactic to bring in customers. The company is partnering with 20th Century Fox to promote Colin Firth’s upcoming spy drama “Kingsman: The Secret Service.”
If you use Uber in any one of 50 cities this week then you will have the chance to win free tickets to special screenings of the movie. Uber will also offer the winners of the tickets free rides to the movie.

The company needs the promotion more than the movie as it is being chased out of countries and cities around the world including Spain, India and Germany. It is desperately searching for ways to preserve its multibillion dollar valuation.
Marc Weinstock, president of marketing at 20th Century Fox, said, “Uber is the perfect partner to execute a never been done before experience around our highly anticipated movie ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service.’ We have a film that audiences are responding to in an amazing way, so we wanted Uber and their huge base of users to help spread the word.”
Perhaps he has not yet heard about all of the allegations of rape that have been made against Uber drivers around the world. Some people may not want to accept the free ride from the company under any circumstances.
Amy Friedlander Hoffman, Uber’s head of business development, west coast, said, “This is an exciting, first-of-its-kind promotion that enables Uber users in 50 cities nationwide to get a sneak peek of one of the most anticipated films of the year — all in one night. We are thrilled to work with 20th Century Fox to offer this promotion to thousands of our users.”
