Alex Clare’s Orthodox Jewish Faith Is Not too Close for Comfort

Alex Clare

Alex Clare is on tour and has recently released a hit called “Too Close, ” which he says is a song about the “reclamation of boundaries.” The song ended up on a Microsoft commercial, and Clare gained worldwide fame. Clare became an Orthodox Jew and doesn’t perform on Shabbat. He says one challenge is trying to convey to fans that he does not have physical contact with anyone but his wife, which makes back slaps, hugs and shaking hands with females out of the question.

Clare described his childhood as “very, very secular, ” and he first started flirting with Orthodox Judaism in the 200os. Not only does he keep Shabbat and Kashrut on the road, but he also has a regular learning schedule o Talmud.

Clare lives in Golders Green and travels often to Jerusalem.
