“The Force Awakens, ” to be released in theaters on Dec. 18, 2015, is set 30 years after “Return of the Jedi, ” the third film in George Lucas’ first “Star Wars” trilogy (1977—1983).
This very first trailer debuted on Friday, online and in theaters. The 88-second teaser video from director J.J. Abrams features a few flashes of scenes with new faces, including John Boyega in a Stormtrooper suit, Daisy Ridley on a hovercraft in the desert and Oscar Isaac in a rebel fighter jet. Then there’s a cloaked figure who enters a forest with a light saber.
