GoldieBlox The Perfect Toy For Inventive Girls

 

Debbie Sterling’s GoldieBlox helps girls become inventors, and the idea that the toy industry said wouldn’t catch on now has 6, 000 stores. Stanford graduate Debbie Sterling raised funds on Kickstarter in 2012, and reached her funding goals in just three months, even after the idea was rejected by toymakers because they doubted girls would be interested in building toys. Now the biggest names in the toy industry are approaching her rather than vice versa, but Sterling says she wants to keep the business in the family and let her children take over some day.

Goldie is a girl who loves to put things together and teaches other girls to solve problems by making machines. The toy has become so popular in such a short amount of time that there will be a GoldieBlox float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. She told Squawk Box, “My goal is to create a toy I wish I had growing up. In addition to a princess lifestyle, girls can be inventors.
