-harvard-business-school-billionaires-620xa

When it comes to billionaire graduates from business schools, nowhere comes close to the United States and toHarvard University in particular. Harvard has produced 335 Rhodes scholars and 150 Nobel laureates but its reputation as the world’s foremost billionaire business school is rarely mentioned. According to Wealth-X, the Harvard business school has churned out 64 billionaires. This is far more than second placed Stanford’s 23 and Columbia’s 14.

Facts and statistics on billionaires around the world

Being ultra-rich is an inspiration to many people. However, not everyone can achieve the ultimate goal of becoming a billionaire. With assets that amount to a combined 227.1 billion U.S. dollars, the Americans Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, and the Mexican Carlos Slim Helú are among the 0.7 percent of the global population who have achieved that much desired goal of many people of becoming a billionaire.

Although the number of billionaires in the regions of Asia-Pacific and Middle East and Africa has decreased in recent years, there is a steady increase in the number of billionaires in the Americas, Europe, and the United States.

The steady increase in the number of billionaires in the United States solidifies the fact that the United States is the nation in the world with the greatest number of billionaires with more billionaires that China, Germany, the United Kingdom and France combined. With around 500 billionaires, the United States is home to many billionaires. The cities in the United States with the greatest number of billionaires are New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco.

Despite the United States having the greatest number of billionaires, the most billionaires per capita are found in Luxembourg, Hong Kong and Switzerland. However, the United States still holds the place for the country with the highest number of ultra high net worth individuals who have net assets exceeding 50 million dollars.

Due to the fact that the number of billionaires around the world is very high, there is an extremely concerning and uneven gender distribution in the percentage of billionaires around the world in recent years. The male percentage of billionaires around the world is distinctly higher than the percentage of female billionaires in every geographic region of the world.

This is the due to the fact that the most significant industries for billionaires around the world are finance, banking and investment, and industrial conglomerates, industries which are predominantly dominated by men.
