Macau introduced a smoking ban into its casinos, but that is the least Las Vegas Sands owner, Sheldon Adelson’s worries. Macau has seen four months of declines in gaming, as reported by Casino City Times, and is headed toward a fifth month. With protests in Hong Kong and a crackdown on corruption in the Chinese government, the smoking ban in Macau casinos seems like a minor matter.
Adelson, when asked about the ban, says it doesn’t seem to be impacting any segment of the business. He added, “The few people grumble about going to the smoking lounge, but they are an obedient society, and they do what the government says. ” Other experts say the impact has been “negligible.”
