Steve and Alexandra Cohen made an historically large donation to Stamford hospital in Connecticut to the tune of $20 million. The Greenwich, CT-based hedge fund manager has made numerous donations to the hospital, but this amount will enable the hospital expand its pediatric services and create the Cohen Children’s Institute. The is the largest amount given in one donation to the hospital.
Existing pediatric services will be updated, and a pediatric inpatient unit will be added. In addition, Stamford hospital will have the only emergency pediatric care unit of its kind in Fairfield County. Dr. Gerald Rakos of Stamford hospital told the Stamford Daily Voice, “The generous gift will enable the hospital to provide a world-class, comprehensive, patient-centered healing environment, as well as advanced emergency, surgical, trauma as well as non-urgent medical care for our pediatric patients.”
