Seth Rogen, Sarah Silverman, Raise Money for Alzheimers

The Comedy Central Roast Of James Franco - Show

What happens when Seth Rogen, Sarah Silverman, Bill Burr, Judd Apatow and Joseph Gordon-Levitt all get together to party for one night in a high school prom for grownups at the Hollywood Palladium? They raise $900, 000 for Alzheimer’s research while increasing awareness of the disease amongst America’s youth, that’s what happens.

The 32 year old self-avowed stoner actor and his wife Lauren Miller Rogen headlined the third annual Hilarity for Charity fundraiser presented by Genworth. For his part, Rogen wore a white black trimmed early 80’s style tuxedo complete with a shirt with large ruffles. The comedic actor said that he was reliving his high school days and taking his wife to the prom.

The cause is a personal one for the Rogens as Lauren’s 63 year old mother was diagnosed as being in the early stages of the disease 8 years ago.

Rogen also joked about the recent disappearance of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. Rogen said, “It’s all a marketing ploy. We’ve hid him somewhere, and he’ll be released one week before the movie.” This was a reference to his and James Franco’s upcoming film the interview which mocks North Korea.

Sarah Silverman wore a schoolgirl outfit. Joseph Gordon-Levitt sang No Doubt’s song “I’m Just a Girl.”

Judd Apatow somehow managed to auction off a $50 bill for $1, 000. He also took it upon himself to sell a series of personal appearances by Rogen. “I’ve known Seth since he was 16 years old, ” Apatow said. “I thought by now he’d be back in Canada selling beers at hockey games.”

Mr. and Mrs. Rogen joined Bell Biv Devoe on stage for an, “if you can dance like its 1990, you can come on stage, ” finale.

Tickets ranged from $150 to $1, 000 in price. The money raised will, in part, go to support in-home care to help Alzheimer’s and dementia patients.
