Israeli ISIS-Style Gay Posters Enrage Folks Who Don’t Get the Joke

gay ISIS

Drek (the word means excrement in Yiddish), an Israeli gay Facebook-based event promoter, has caught a lot of flack for using an Islamic State lookalike photo to publicize a party.

Drek, a wild but good natured outfit running parties in the Tel Aviv area (the city that never sleeps, and all that), used pictures imitating the beheading videos from the familar executions of David Haines, James Foley and Steven Sotloff, to invite folks to a club night Friday.

One image shows a man kneeling in the desert sand with a ninja-style Arab behind him, with his hand on his shoulder. The black flag of Isis is Photoshpped into the top left hand corner, and some copy and paste text is running below, just like those ISIS horror shows.

Another image used by Drek shows a topless gay guy flying a black ISIS flag.

They were posted on Dreck’s Facebook page ahead of a party in Tel Aviv’s Haoman Street 17 club, hailed as “Drekistan at the Haoman”.

Too Soon? You bet your poopik. Talkback responses have been going through the roof over the past day, since the images have gone up, and then after the Ynet website reported on it.

Frankly, considering how little good satire we’ve been getting this summer – this is a welcome breath of, well, not fresh, but pretty hot air.

Feel free to condemn the whole thing.
