Mantis Vision states that it develops technologies and products that will bring 3D to every mobile device, home and business. Its software and hardware component solutions, based on its core MV4D “motion capable” 3D range-imaging technology, are designed to enable user-generated content creation throughout the 3D ecosystem.
Aquila is an 8 inch tablet featuring Mantis Vision’s MV4D core 3D engine, MV4D Camera Control SDK, and depth sensing components for superior 3D data acquisition and data quality. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and Aquila puts the power of 3D content creation in the hands of developers and consumers, according to Mantis.
Powered by the Snapdragon 801 mobile processor with high performance Qualcomm Krait CPU, leading Qualcomm Adreno and power optimized DSP, the Aquila 3D tablet together with the MV4D SDK allows Android developers to fully integrate 3D video, images and data into their apps, games and content. The Aquila 3D tablet is available to all manufacturers and is expected to be OEM-ready in early 2015.
“At Mantis Vision, we are ecstatic to be such an integral part of Aquila, ” said Amihai Loven, CEO, Mantis Vision. “Aquila will be the first tool of its kind for content creators and a variety of commercial and vertical market applications. Because it is available to all developers and OEMs, makers will have unbounded access to a brave new 3D content ecosystem. Along with Flextronics, we are ready to reinvent the 3D experience for everyone, from creators to consumers.”
“We are thrilled to partner with Mantis Vision to help bring their technology to market, ” said Mike Dennison, president of Consumer Technologies Group at Flextronics. “Our ability to provide Mantis with new product introduction services, advanced engineering and manufacturing solutions is a great example of the powerful supply chain solutions Flextronics is able to deliver to its customers.
The device will debut at the Qualcomm Uplinq 2014 mobile developers conference in San Francisco.
