Founded in 2011, Vidmind’s platform lets service providers, from Telcos through broadcasters and retailers, launch a fully featured next generation TV service, available on TVs, tablets, smartphones and more.
The new Hybrid STB and remote control features a dual core CPU and a Full HD UI, providing a robust and intuitive user experience. The DVBT2 tuner lets viewers seamlessly access free-to-air content as well as OTT content. It includes Dual band 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Wifi for an optimized video delivery over the air running on top of Android KitKat 4.4, supporting the latest Android apps.
Vidmind’s V2 remote control manufactured by Remote Solutions supports both TV navigation and advanced gaming capabilities. The remote is double-sided and has a full QWERTY keyboard to support easy and fast search, free typing, and other features. The remote is also enhanced with back lighting to ensure a good experience while typing in low light conditions.
Danny Peled, co-founder and CEO of Vidmind, said in a statement: “The V2 STB is the ultimate device for virtual TV operators and we are extremely happy to make it available for companies around the globe. Our solution provides viewers with an experience that’s more personal and social than ever. Working with one of the best hardware manufacturers in the world will allow us to expand our global presence and offer innovative solutions to even more users worldwide.”
“Partnering with Vidmind is a great opportunity for us to work with such an innovative company. Vidmind’s unique approach brings a beautifully-designed product into one of the most exciting industries in the world, ” said Dr. Weiping Huang, CEO of Hisense Broadband Multimedia Technologies, Ltd. “The combination of our state of the art hardware design together with Vidmind’s middleware, UI and cloud platform, creates an outstanding solution for operators.”
Earlier this month the company also announced a new partnership with Verimatrix, a specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-network, multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, to market a novel DRM-in-the-cloud offering.
