Russian Businessman Boris Berezovsky Loses Lawsuit Against Roman Abramovich

Russian officials are trying to recover losses caused by disgraced oligarch and businessman Boris Berezovsky, and seek to confiscate his estates and assets. Berezovsky, who went into self-imposed exile in Great Britain, was found dead in 2013  from hanging. Rumors abounded that bankruptcy was the cause of his suicide was bankruptcy, but Berezovsky had $800 million at the time of his death. In addition, a Marsielle court is launching a criminal case against Jean-Louis Bordes who acquired high end real estate to launder money along with Berezovsky.

Prosecutor’s General office spokeswoman, Marina Gridneva, said “The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office plans to regain the maximum amount of losses caused by (the late) Berezovsky and confiscate his illegally acquired property regardless of where it is located or to whom it has formerly passed. The real estate objects have been bought on money embezzled by Berezovsky and the members of the transnational criminal community established by him, in Russia.”
