San Antonio Creek Spreading Ground Rehabilitation Project Commemorated with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, Sept. 10

Online PR News – 01-September-2014 – Ventura County Supervisor Steve Bennett and Ventura County Watershed Protection District (VCWPD) will come together to celebrate the completion of the San Antonio Creek Spreading Grounds Rehabilitation project at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

This is a project that was sought by local water agencies, and after many years of grant seeking and planning, its great to bring this much-needed water supply project into service, said Supervisor Steve Bennett.
The San Antonio Creek Spreading Grounds Rehabilitation Project will help augment Ojai Valleys water supply by increasing groundwater storage and recharge in the Ojai Valley Groundwater Basin. The recently completed project included rehabilitating existing relict infiltration basins and constructing a new intake structure in San Antonio Creek with a 24-inch pipeline for seasonal diversion of peak stream flow. Diverted water from San Antonio Creek, up to a maximum of 914 acre feet per year, would be recharged to the Ojai Valley Groundwater Basin to be available for subsequent agricultural and municipal uses.
By diverting seasonal peak flows for groundwater recharge, the project will benefit Ventura County citizens by increasing groundwater in the Ojai Valley Basin and promoting sustainable water supply. explains Elizabeth Martinez, VCWPD Environmental Planner.
