Cramer said on CNBC’s Squawk Box that natural gas prices are low and are going to stay that way because of production in the Marcellus shale. This will put pressure on coal, as utilities will make the switch from coal to natural gas, “This is the death knell for coal.” Cramer said.
He also discussed Home Depot’s (HD) earnings, which were better than many expected. The company said it is using much less print advertising, and now 36% of its marketing efforts are digital. Cramer thinks news from HD’s management represents a “tipping point” towards dramatic increases in digital ads, and may indicate that Facebook (FB) and Twitter (TWTR) are buys.
