These days, people are addicted to their smartphones, tablets and laptops. 43 percent of people in the United States never unplug from technology – phones buzz with social network updates while they sleep or vibrate in pockets throughout the day. Many have managed to resist the urge of permanent connection, however. 20 percent of people unplug daily while 10 percent turn off their devices a few times a week.
As of 2014, more than approximately 1.8 billion internet users have accessed social networks; 170 million of which were located in the United States. Despite the ubiquity of social networks, market potential is still increasing, as user figures and user engagement continue to grow.
